After TikTok took the social media world by storm, other platforms like Instagram and Facebook needed to figure out how to stay in the game. That’s how Instagram Reels were born. Instagram Reels are short, multi-clip videos where you can add audio, effects, filters, and more. After you are happy with the reel you have created, you have the option to choose a cover image, caption, location, if you want to tag others, and whether you want to share your Instagram Reel to your feed as well.  However, Instagram is now testing another feature for consumers to add if they wish. An “Add Topics” option as shown below.

Adding topics to your reel will allow you to define and refine your creation more than you were able to before. It will allow businesses to showcase their content to consumers who are more interested in what you are offering. Similar to TikTok, your Instagram Reels will now be on the feeds of a more engaged and interested audience. For consumers, it will give them much more refined reels that are most similar their interests, searches, likes, and more.
