FacebookAlbums

Everything’s more fun in a group, and now Facebook photo albums have decided to get in on the fun.

The social media giant announced a new feature allowing multiple users to contribute to one album (as reported by Mashable). Whether it’s a wedding, a family reunion or a simple ballgame, multiple users can now add to a mutual album.

As usual, the update comes with a catch. Up to 50 users can contribute to an album, and each user can only add 200 photos. For now, only users can create shared albums, as the feature is not yet available to Pages.

The update was born from a “hackathon,” a time when employees set aside normal operations and think of updates and prototypes for users instead. The idea is still broad, and may be more refined in the future (potentially more photos per user may be considered).

A small group of English users received the update Monday, and the rest will be integrated over the next several weeks. The update will be expanded internationally soon after the rest of English users are integrated.
