Twitter is unrolling a significant update that’s glaringly similar to rivals Facebook and Google Plus.

The test features a revamped tweet stream – rather than the classic vertical look, the stream features tweets squared off and adjacent to each other. Photos, videos and content cards are also given a larger focus, according to an article posted by Mashable.

Header photos are also enlarged and given more emphasis – rather than the 1252 x 626 size used now, the test sets them at 1500 x 500. The profile photo, bio and who-to-follow list is shifted to the left to accommodate the header, and the follower, following, tweets, favorites and lists all appear under the header.

Twitter typically rolls out tested designs to a significantly small and random group of users, so no need to fret if you don’t see the update just yet. Even if you don’t have the update just yet, someone testing it has the ability to see what your profile would look like with it.

The update comes just several weeks after the social media giant updated their web site in an effort to maintain consistency across web and mobile platforms.

The Bad Rhino team will keep you updated if Twitter decides to go through with these plans.
