Twitter unveiled a new update Tuesday, overhauling direct messaging and mobile timelines to streamline their mobile app for users.

According to a post on Twitter’s blog, users will now have the opportunity to share and view photos via DM. Direct messages also have their own tab in the notification bar to make them easier to access. Photos can also be viewed on Twitter’s web version – they’re not just limited to the app.

In addition to overhauling direct messaging, the mobile app added swiping between timelines, allowing the user to swipe from their Home timeline to their Discover and Activity timelines.

“Every day, people come to Twitter to find out what’s happening in the world and talk about it,” Jeremy Gordon said in the post. “Today, we’re updating our mobile apps to make this even easier.”

The update also includes operating system-specific features. iOS users have new in-app notifications that show when they receive a DM, as well as when users reply, retweet or favorite their tweets. Android users have the chance to filter notifications by user by tapping a star on their profile.
