According to Techcrunch, Twitter now can help you register to vote and answer voter questions via direct message. Twitter has implemented a new feature that allows voters to direct message the company’s @Gov Twitter account in order to receive voter registration assistance over direct messaging, which is more private. What’s interesting about Twitter’s application is that it is personalized to the voter based on their zip code.

The deadlines for voter registrations vary from state to state, which is why the five digit zip code is so pertinent in order to receive accurate information for where you live.  Twitter will respond to your direct message via the @Gov account with your state’s deadline and link to get registered.

In addition, Twitter has invented a new #iRegistered emoji you can tweet to brag about your plans to vote in the approaching election. When twitter users click this, they’ll also be directed to a link that allows them to register to vote.

Twitter is the latest tech company to join the efforts of getting more Americans registered to vote. Even Google offers similar information to those who search for voting related keywords in their search engine. Youtube, Square, and Facebook have also launched their own campaigns.
